Aloe Vera Mojito in 23 minutes

These air fried crispy pork bites are super easy to make and oh so addicting! You will probably have to make these at least two times in a row to get them off you mind (if you’re a foodie like me you will know exactly what I mean by this [he he he] ). These are crispy, salty, and so succulent. YUM!! You know when something is so hot but you pop it in your mouth anyways and “exhale/blow” on repeat to prevent your tongue from melting off?? Well yeah – you’re going to be doing a lot of that because you won’t be able to wait for them to cool. They are best served hot so you can enjoy that melty-fatty-goodness. Lets get into it!

Air Fried Crispy Pork Bites

TIPS AND THINGS TO KNOW:

Tools:

You will need and air fryer to achieve the results you see in the videos and images. This recipe was attempted in an oven on a wire rack and they turned out very dry and without the desired crunchiness and colour. The other option you have would be to deep fry them, however I do not recommend this method because it’s already a fatty dish.

Pork:

Pick a piece of pork with a good fat to meat ratio. You do not want a lean piece of pork for this recipe. Each chunk of meat should be accompanied by a little piece of fat. I used boneless pork chops here. You can simply buy thick cut pork chops and cut the meat off the bone and into chunks or chose another cut of pork with some fat on it.

Substitutions for corn starch:

Many of my followers have asked if there was a substitution for corn starch and the answer is yes. You can use flour or tapioca starch. You have to add some form of a starch to achieve the crispiness. Although I have not tried it myself another ingredient you can try is rice flour.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cut your pork into small chunks.

  2. Season your pork with all the seasoning mentioned MINUS the cornstarch; Montreal steak spice, black pepper, bouillon powder, light soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, vinegar, thyme, and chilli powder.

  3. Rub the seasoning into the meat and marinate for a few hours if possible or overnight.

  4. Add cornstarch and mix well.

  5.  Spread out onto air fryer rack – making sure the pieces don’t touch. You will need to do these in 2 batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Air Fry at 400 degrees F for 13-15 minutes shaking half way through (open the air fryer at the 7 minutes mark and give it a shake).
    Enjoy!
