This quick and easy spicy garlic butter mussel recipe comes together in a few minutes and is made in the air fryer! Of course you can bake or bbq these as well but nothing is as easy as air frying in my opinion. I use my air fryer on a daily basis and love air fryer recipes! I hope all the seafood lovers out there enjoy this simple mussel recipe.
Air Fried Spicy Garlic Butter Mussels
TIPS AND THINGS TO NOTE:
Substitute cooking methods:
If you don’t have an air fryer do not stress!! You can put these on your bbq and watch the butter bubble and cook the mussels. You can place them directly on the grill or use a baking sheet or bbq pan to catch the juices. You can also bake the mussels at 450 degrees ferenheight on a baking sheet or baking dish until bubbly and cooked through.
Thai red chili substitutes:
Some substitutes for Thai red chili peppers are; 1 tsp of dry red chili flakes, finely chopped habanero, scotch bonnet or wiri wiri peppers. Really you can use any pepper you have and like or omit them completely if you don’t like spice.
Types of mussels I used in my recipe:
I used frozen New Zealand Greenshell Mussels on a half shell. These are stored in the freezer section and come packaged in a box. They come with half the shell removed already so it’s super convenient. They can easily be found at many grocery stored and for sure at Asian/Oriental grocery stores.

Sprinkle with parmesan or grana padano cheese.
