Grilled Octopus
TIPS AND THINGS TO NOTE:
Where to buy baby octopus:
You can easily find baby octopus in the freezer section of many Asian or Oriental grocery stores. All you have to do is rinse/wash and pat them dry.
Why baby octopus?
I chose baby octopus for this recipe because it is so easy to use and cook! They are small so they grill fast. They are also young so the meat is tender and doesn’t require boiling for tenderization like the larger octopus you more regularly see. You just have to make sure you do not overcook them or they will be chewy.
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Skewer your octopus onto small wooden/bamboo skewers and drizzle with olive oil.
-
Grill on medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side (only grill them for 2 minutes if your baby octopus are really small).
-
In a small bowl combine the bbq sauce, sesame oil and oyster sauce.
-
Brush the octopus with the sauce and grill for 45 seconds-1 more minute per side so the sauce can char a bit and get sticky.
-
Sprinkle on the sesame seeds and green onions and enjoy!
